<\/a>Mayor Gomez and Interim City Manager John \u201cBoy Wonder\u201d Naron inevitably would have faced tough questions about their mishandling of the Sgt. Stephen Yohner fiasco<\/a>, and the surest way to dodge that problem would be to cancel the meeting.<\/p>\nCouncilwoman Martha Castilleja told me last night that the mayor had not yet responded to her text asking why the regularly-scheduled meeting was cancelled, and it’s not clear that the mayor even has the authority to cancel the meeting unilaterally, but then it’s not like Mayor McCrooked, Boy Wonder or anyone else in the Booger County Mafia<\/a> ever cared about following the law.<\/p>\n If you want to understand just how nervous the Mafia is about losing control of city government, read Thursday’s front-page screed against Councilwoman Shirley Harris on the front page of the Robertson County \u201cNews\u201d<\/em><\/a> by publisher Dennis Phillips. Dennis never could distinguish between news writing and editorial, but he sure is working hard to earn that $30,000 payoff from the Mafia<\/a>.<\/p>\n You may recall that Mr. Brunette was suspended last September<\/a> for sending \u201cinappropriate\u201d text messages to Councilman Rodrick Jackson. I’ve seen some of the text message, and I suspect Mr. Brunette was drunk when he sent them.<\/p>\n HEARNE ELECTION \u201cTRUTHS\u201d<\/p>\n I’ve written previously about Boy Wonder’s obsession with recalling Mr. Jackson<\/a> from the city council, and I happened to notice an interesting April 25, 2017 post on the Facebook page \u201cHearne Election Truths.\u201d The post has since been deleted, but it opined that Councilman Jackson still could be recalled \u2013 never mind the fact that the Robertson County Elections Administrator found that there were not enough valid signatures on the recall petition.<\/p>\n I’ve long suspected that the anonymous (and deceptively-named) Facebook page is run by Boy Wonder, and if so it would be further proof of his obsession, but we may find out for certain next week. I have subpoenaed Boy Wonder to testify at Mr. Jackson’s trial<\/a> that begins on Thursday.<\/p>\n Finally, if you’re tired of the corruption, racism, and dirty politics in Hearne, then vote against<\/u> the Booger County Mafia candidates: Mayor Ruben Gomez, Councilman Emmett Aguirre, and former Councilwoman LaShunda White, a.k.a. \u201cLaShunda Sellout<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n FORMER HEARNE OFFICER STEPHEN STEM HIRED BY GIDDINGS POLICE<\/p>\n Former Hearne Police Officer Stephen Stem was hired by the Giddings Police Department in February, according to records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement<\/a>. Stem made national news<\/a> after shooting and killing a 93-year-old Pearlie Golden\u00a0in 2014, the second of two shootings in less than two years.<\/p>\n Stem was later fired by the Hearne City Council, but he was no-billed\u00a0by a Robertson County grand jury. He worked as a reserve deputy<\/a> for Falls County Precinct 3 Constable Richard Aleman until he was hired by Giddings.\u00a0Before joining Hearne PD, Stem had been suspended twice from his job<\/a> with the Bryan Police Department.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/lawflog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Mayor-Gomez-edited.jpg\")
<\/a>Meanwhile, Ms. Harris tells me she had a bizarre exchange at the local grocery store last night with another Mafia flunky, namely Hearne Economic Development Director Kent Brunette. According to Ms. Harris, Mr. Brunette \u201ccharged\u201d her at the front door of Brookshire Brothers and made quite a scene, telling a store employee that he needed to help vote Ms. Harris off the council.
